AR Tools; Story Spheres

Story Spheres is an augmented reality tool that is used for storytelling. Story spheres allows you to enter a 360-degree dimension and upload or use any photos you want that are then linked up with an audio, so you can fully immerse yourself into the story. Fairly simple to use and free, Story Spheres really allows you to enter into the storytelling world to make it feel like you are a part of it.

Anyone can use Story Spheres, and as stated above, it is really simple to use and free. Although anyone can use it, teachers and students can use it to make story time a lot more interesting. I, myself, always envision what a story looks like in my head while listening to it, and with this tool, it can truly bring these visions right in front of me. Students can add in whatever picture they think fits different parts of the story and teachers can too. With storytelling becoming more immersive, students may become more engaged with the curriculum too.

This tool can benefit anyone who uses it. As stated above, anyone can use this tool, but I can definitely see teachers and students being able to take a lot away from Story Spheres. As someone who is a student, I find my mind often wandering when having to read books and getting distracted by things around me. I love to envision what I think it would be like to be one of the characters, and with this tool, I could find a picture that makes me think about a part of the story and upload it and suddenly I am immersed in the story, with no distractions from the outside world. On the other hand, as a future english teacher, I would also love to use this tool with my students so they can become more engaged with the story.

  1. I really like the ease of use factor of Story Spheres. A large issue with a lot of these tools is the barrier of entry seems so high due to the complexity of the technology. I think this makes it a stand out tool as far as AR tools go, because it will be something the students and teachers can all understand how to apply.

  2. Hi Nora,
I really enjoyed reading your blog about Story Spheres. This sounds like an extremely fascinating tool that I had never heard of before so thank you so much for sharing! I have always loved reading and would also envision myself within the worlds of books too. I intend to investigate it more for myself and my own children, especially since you mentioned it is free. I wonder if this tool could help students that are learning to read or those with learning disabilities. Do you think it would be useful for those purposes as well as aiding storytelling experiences?
